The survey involvedparents who had experience of being both present and not present during these procedures and was carried out betweenJune and August 2010 using our unique self-completion questionnaire. The survey was designed to investigate parents'wishes and feelings regarding accompanying their children during treatment. The results showed that 60% of parents\"wished to attend treatment\", 10% \"did not wish to attend treatment,\" and 30% were \"undecided.\" The comparison offeelings revealed that the parents had a higher sense of reassurance and trust for healthcare professionals if theyattended treatment, whereas parents felt more anxiety and sorrier for their children if they did not attend treatment. Inaddition, parents wished to have the right to be present during the treatment of their children and commented thathealthcare professionals should always ask children and parents what they wanted. These results underlined theimportance of the care meeting the needs of children and parents, and the relationship respecting the feelings of
